2001 Jag Details

For sale is my 2001 Jaguar XJ8 in British Racing Green. I have owned the car since August 2023 and have put ~5,000 miles on it in that time which included a trip to and from San Diego.  I purchased this car in San Diego after searching for one specifically in that market so that I could have PPI and initial maintenance done by Coventry Cars of San Diego which is a well-known and well-respected Jaguar indy shop.

Since owning the car, I have worked on getting it mechanically sorted, which it is essentially, except for a few items noted as below. The bulk of what is left is cosmetic work, mostly on the exterior. Based on a few estimates I've received from body shops the body/paint work likely totals ~$3,000.

I am asking $7,500, which based on the low mileage, condition, work I've done, and work remaining I believe is reasonable.  I am open to reasonable negotiations however.

Please see fine detail below and feel free to reach out with questions. I have purchased several pre-owned, vintage cars directly from owners so have striven to make this listing as detailed as possible.  I appreciate honesty and transparency and would like to share that in return.

The car is located at my home in Henderson, NV.

The vehicle comes with the following as pictured:

  • 1 Key, 1 valet key, 2 fobs (the secondary one needs a new battery)

  • Owner's manuals

  • Custom Cocomats (I have the original Jaguar branded mats as well)

  • Mina Gallery oval exhaust tips (I decided to keep the tips stock but will include these in the purchase. The Mina tips are much beefier.)

Work Done Since August 2023:

  • January 2025: Oil/filter change; tail light replaced; rebuilt rear view mirror installed (Work done by Kensington Motors-Vegas local indy)

  • September 2024: Oil/filter change; carbon canister hose/fittings replaced (Work done by Kensington Motors-Vegas local indy)

  • April 2024: Oil/filter change; fuel filter replaced (Work done by Kensington Motors-Vegas local indy)

  • Late 2024: New battery installed (AAA)

  • December 2023: Oil/filter change; front shock absorbers replaced; rear shock absorbers and upper spring mounts replaced; front brake rotors and pads replaced; ABS module replaced with rebuilt unit; transmission flushed and renewed including new pan gasket and filter; brake system flush and renew; power steering fluid drain and renew;  front swaybar bushings and links replaced (Work done by Coventry Cars of San Diego-San Diego indy)

  • September 2023: 4 new tires installed (Continental Control Contact Tour A/S Plus) (Work done by Discount Tire)

  • August 2023: Oil/filter change; upper timing chain tensioners replaced/valve covers resealed as preventative job; differential pinion seal and flange replaced (Work done by Coventry Cars of San Diego-San Diego indy)

 Known Mechanical Issues:

  • "TRAC Unavailable" message: ABS Module was replaced however I do get the "TRAC Unavailable" message for a few seconds upon start-up most times. It goes away after a few seconds.

  • Driver's door latch/cable: This has begun sticking recently. The door can be unlocked manually, from the fob, or from the center unlock button, but the latch cable likely needs to be replaced.

  • Some remaining front end "clunk": Despite the suspension/swaybar work done as noted above there is a front end clunk that goes away after some driving and at higher speeds. I suspect a bushing somewhere needs to be replaced but I haven't addressed given it isn't an issue really.

  • Radio: Radio is functional. I use it regularly, however some/all of the speakers likely need to be replaced. I currently have the bass turned all the way down for this reason.

 Known Cosmetic Issues:

  • Exterior: Passenger side right fender dent as pictured. This was present on the vehicle when purchased.

  • Exterior: Passenger side right bumper as pictured: You'll see a small white patch in this area. The previous owner had a small reflector here and it was knocked off leaving the adhesive back and peeling some paint.

  • Exterior: Side View Mirrors: As pictured, you can see some paint scuff marks on both mirrors. This was present on the vehicle when purchased.

  • Exterior: Driver's Side Door: Small paint chip as pictured.

  •

  • Exterior: Bumper has some areas where previous owner placed some touch up paint as pictured.

  • Interior: Area around "S" button near gear selector stained slightly as pictured.

  • Interior: Driver's side wood trim has some veneer cracking as pictured. This piece also tends to pop out slightly at times but can be pushed back into place.

  • Interior: Passenger's side wood trim has some veneer cracking as pictured.

  • Interior: Wood trim above glove box has some very faint scratches as pictured.

  • Interior: All center functions/buttons work (A/C, heat, etc.) however the center section is a bit loose as the bottom clips have failed. This doesn't affect any of these features/functionality so I have not bothered to replace the clips.

  • Interior: Driver's side speaker cover cracked as pictured.
